GATE 2027: deadline to fix application defects extended again, now 3 November 2026
IIT Madras has moved the closing date of the GATE 2027 application rectification window for scrutiny defects to 3 November 2026. Defects notified to candidates can be corrected on GOAPS without any extra fee.
IIT Madras, the organising institute for GATE 2027, has given candidates more time to fix defects found during scrutiny of their applications. The rectification window opened on 14 October 2026 and was last due to close on 31 October 2026. The official important-dates table now lists 3 November 2026 (Tuesday) as the closing date.
Who it applies to: candidates whose application has been marked defective and who have been told of the defect by their zonal office. Corrections are made on the GOAPS portal at no extra cost. The official FAQs say that an application whose defects are not fixed by the deadline is treated as provisional or rejected.
What to do now: log in to GOAPS and check your application status. If it shows defective, make the correction described in the message before the window closes.
Still to come: the data-correction window for changes requested by candidates (with a fee) has not been dated yet, and neither has the admit card. City allotment is scheduled for 4 January 2027, the exams for 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21 February 2027, and results for 19 March 2027.
