GATE 2027: deadline to fix application defects extended to 31 October 2026
IIT Madras has extended the GATE 2027 application rectification window for scrutiny defects to 31 October 2026 (earlier 21 October). Candidates told of a defect by email can fix it on GOAPS at no extra fee.
IIT Madras, the organising institute for GATE 2027, has extended the application rectification window for scrutiny defects. The official GATE 2027 website now shows the window running from 14 October to 31 October 2026 (Saturday); the earlier closing date was 21 October 2026.
Who it applies to
Only candidates whose applications were found defective when the zonal institutes scrutinised them. Candidates who receive a defect notification by email must correct the defects on the GOAPS portal within this window, without paying any additional fee.
This is separate from the data correction window (with fee) for changes requested by candidates, whose dates are still listed as 'to be announced'. Registration for GATE 2027 is closed.
Other dates (unchanged)
- Exam-city allotment notification: 4 January 2027
- Exams: 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21 February 2027
- Results: 19 March 2027
What to do next: Log in to GOAPS, check your application status and your email, and fix any defect before 31 October 2026. Do not delete the DigiLocker account you applied with, because IIT Madras says future communication will go only to that account.
