UPSC ESE 2027 notified: about 480 vacancies, Preliminary exam on 31 January 2027
UPSC issued the Engineering Services Examination 2027 notice on 16 September 2026. Applications closed at 6 pm on 6 October 2026; the Preliminary is on 31 January 2027 and the Main on 18 June 2027.
The Union Public Service Commission released Examination Notice No. 02/2027-ENGG. for the Engineering Services Examination (ESE), 2027 on 16 September 2026.
- Vacancies: about 480, including 19 for persons with benchmark disabilities, across Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering. The number may change.
- Application window: 16 September to 6 October 2026 (6 pm), online only.
- Preliminary (Stage I): 31 January 2027. Two objective papers carry 500 marks in all: Paper I (200 marks) and Paper II in the candidate's engineering discipline (300 marks). Wrong answers attract negative marking.
- Main (Stage II): 18 June 2027.
- Age: 21 to 30 years on 1 January 2027 (born between 2 January 1997 and 1 January 2006), with relaxations as per rules.
- Fee: Rs 200; women, SC, ST and PwBD candidates are exempt.
The e-admit card is due on the last working day of the week before the exam. Candidates may submit representations on questions and provisional answer keys from the third day after the exam until 6 pm on the seventh day. Face authentication is mandatory at the venue.
